Summer Projects Spotlight

The replacement Michigan Historical Marker for the Commandant’s Quarters was delivered this June! It will replace the marker currently at the CQ, which the Dearborn Historical Commission erected in 1975. Keep an eye out for an invite to the new marker’s dedication ceremony this September!

Progress on the America 250 grant project for the Pioneer Schoolroom renovation continues! Volunteers recently met with Museum Collections Manager Karely Byrd-Nowsch and Grant Project Manager Steven Hilberg to discuss the new room and the artifacts they would like to see returned to it. Thanks to all of our Pioneer School Program volunteers who have been so supportive of this project!

Exhibit Designer Tyler Moll has already started removing the log cabin style table and decor from the room. The ca. 1890s school desks as well as the wood and brick tools have been removed.
